One of my main fascinations in life is the human mind, how it works, and especially how it can be altered. And as such I make a point to experiment on myself with things like this and very carefully analyze and log the effects. Presently I am on 3 hits of LSD playing Hardcore Rust. I have written a previous LSD report as a pure trip report on the LSD sub, but I wanted to determine how it would affect my motor skills and reaction times etc, and creativity of play, hence this one now. Especially considering the military actually gave LSD to soldiers in Vietnam to supposedly make them more effective. So let's see how that pans out... The first noticeable effect, it began to look like there was a "Counter UAV" active when it wasn't. Text would be sort of going goofy in the exact same way but to a very mild extent. As the intensity increased, the environment began visibly warping as you might imagine from what you may have seen in movies or TV etc. But I would describe it more as a shimmery distortion than an obvious "this is the way things look now" way. In other words, the objects "breathe" into and out of different shapes rather than just being fixed in some deformed state. Not EVERY object mind you, just like, say, the grid fences and some of the boxes and one particular part of the rock wall on what I think is the left of the map. Randomly different things would morph but essentially it wasn't everything on the screen at once being deformed... Colours would become very apparent, the rim of my Monocle Reflex Sight started looking shimmery green and purple etc. Then as the intensity got higher as I had redosed, the distortion of shape became less apparent. Instead, what became VERY apparent was that EVERYTHING was the wrong size. It felt like my character was a dwarf suddenly. The weapons seemed bizarrely tiny. And then randomly it would switch and I'd feel like my character was too large for the surrounding environment. Player models NEVER look how they should. They look tiny and far away when they're like a few feet from you. Their legs look bizarrely short compared to their upper body. Then other times they will look like anorexic Slenderman type figurines with drainpipe tier skinny legs. Essentially, your ability to determine size is GONE. NOTHING is in proportion. EVER. Every building, gun, player model, it's always the wrong shape and size. Your hands feel completely numb. Paradoxically you can work them, yet it feels almost like they've been injected with local anaesthetic from a dentist. [ EDIT: On the comedown part my hands felt barely useable and I couldn't aim for shit]. The sounds of gunfire become peculiar. Sometimes it sounds like a peashooter, then at other times like a shotgun blast, I think it's to do with the acoustics in game (how it makes shots sound different in enclosed spaces etc) but this became VERY noticeable.... Gameplaywise, I found myself more static. Happy to stand in one spot staring at the same location for extended periods. I never felt a desire to move when I had a place I enjoyed the feel of, I would just stand there and enjoy it... And not even worry about the people who are probably flanking me. Occasionally I would be distracted staring at a shimmering rockface or colours on my reflex sight. I seemed to feel an urge to shoot explosive crossbow bolts into random spots in case an enemy were by chance to stumble upon that spot... Moreso than actual strategic play of pre aiming where I know they're gonna be coming from etc. Overall I played much the same as usual with those few small exceptions. There was also a brief period where I felt a surge of energy and played very aggressive but that was short lived. Throughout the entire experience my favourite gun to use was the Undertaker SMG (Striker 45 blueprint that makes it a UMP45) set up to be a HK USC with the. 45 hollow point rounds on single shot fire mode with a monocle reflex. I was only using the monocle for the reflex sight challenges but then realized I actually really enjoyed it on that gun.... Oh and if anyone's interested, the "Commendations" I got on the last match - this was after basically coming down though to be fair - were: Sixth Sense (no deaths from behind), Selfish (fewest assists), Evolver (most classes changed). I also found a really good way to explain the "visual distortion" of text on LSD if you want to know what it's like... You see on Call of Duty when you equip a grenade launcher? In fact do this right now, equip a grenade launcher on a gun in the gunsmith. It will say "M203 40 mm" then scroll down and say "High-Explosive". Now, the word High-Explosive fades back into "M203 40 mm". As it fades back, that is EXACTLYYYYYY what visual distortions on LSD look like. IDENTICAL down to a T. Not all text, but I find it really prevalent on some things - like WhatsApp on my mobile, the "Online" text does this a lot, especially when someone starts typing. This type of distortion is super common during an acid trip. It's usually text but can be other stuff too, like if you stare at a picture, some things in the picture might shift back and forth in this way. Another thing on really high doses of acid at the peak, what happens is that your "imagination" starts overlaying reality. So you know when you drift off into a daydream and "see" things in your mind's eye, well this becomes so prevalent and obvious that it can begin to actually overlay your real life vision and your real surroundings can become blocked by this - at least in a dark room.
